Sunday Focus: Miserable Drivers

Here is Exhibit A for this posting:
Three cars in a row  in downtown Montgomery parked by folks who can't seem to parallel park.

The first car is parked with the rear sticking out into traffic.

The middle car, well, it's obvious.
And that third car up front is also out of wack, to use the technical term.

Many Alabamians have poor parking skills.
And even more don't understand the rules of driving on a road with a reversible middle lane. For example: Norman Bridge Road in Montgomery between Fairview Avenue and almost I-85.

Notice the yellow X above the middle lane? That's the light that changes to red or green depending on the time of day. In the Morning Rush, the street becomes two lanes headed toward Downtown. Afternoon Rush...the opposite. And during the time in between the middle lane--yellow light displayed--- it is a turn lane. not an express lane for somebody in a hurry. And when the light is red, it means...well, you get it I'm sure.

Coming up in the next driving lesson edition: turn signals are not optional equipment.

  1. There's also parking against traffic. Illegal, but very common around here.
