True (Yellow) Detective

     Who is The King in Yellow?
     The name keeps coming up in the HBO series True Detective..one of the cable shows I watch regularly.
     Some very literate folks online have concluded it is a reference to a series of short stories published in 1895! Talk about obscure! Robert W. Chambers' short collection---The King in Yellow---is available free online here.
