Welcome to Alabama, Rev. Al Sharpton!

"Sharpton has proven himself to be a race-baiting liberal whose election year activities are designed to serve one purpose: to gin up racial animosity and hostility in order to boost turnout of Democrat voters."
                                                        ALGOP Chair Bill Armistead

The full statement is here. The Chairman mostly disparages Sharpton's criticism of Voter ID laws:

"We have all heard the stories of dead people voting and of individuals voting more than once, by claiming to be someone they were not."

BUT: If that is truly a significant problem in Alabama, can someone list even a half-dozen such cases in the past few decades?

There are two reasons people like Rev. Sharpton fear voter restrictions in Alabama: The state's history of doing so, and the fact that the right to vote is not like driving, or having a family or getting a job. The right to vote is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, and therefore must be restricted only in the most extreme cases.
