Friday: The day to bury news.

Almost half a million Hyundai autos assembled at the Montgomery plant are being recalled so the engines can be replaced.
It is easily the largest most expensive recall involving vehicles from the plant. USA Today quotes a Hyundai spokesman who could not say what it would cost the company.
The engine replacements will certainly be in the tens of millions of dollars if each new engine + labor and other costs were just a thousand dollars.
The recall involves 2011 and 2012 Sonatas...the company's best selling vehicle those years.

[UPDATE: Hyundai knew about the severity of the problem and decided to replace the engines weeks ago.
Federal records say the company decided on the recall on September 2nd, ironically the same day the company announced the Montgomery facility has set a record, assembling 70,000 vehicles at the plant in July and August. The recall was announced by The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Friday.]
