More than half of those cars were assembled at the Montgomery plant---56%.
Still no word on where Hyundai will locate another plant, but state and local officials have been pushing hard for a huge addition to the Montgomery facility.
Not all of the news leading to that sales milestone has been positive. The company has been hit by some huge recalls of those Alabama products...including almost 27k recently.
The majority of Hyundai owners are reportedly very happy with their purchase, but in Korea some buyers were wondering if the quality of the Korean-assembled vehicles was not as high as that of those made in Alabama...so the company orchestrated a head-on collision between one of each. Watch the video here...though it is in Korean. The results: the same amount of damage to both vehicles.
