The Emerging Pot Economy

It certainly hasn't hit Alabama, but more and more, in day-to-day news stories, I see a trend regarding marijuana. It is becoming an above-ground part of the conversation.

The latest example came in today's N.Y. Times in which the paper was offering advice on how much to tip your drug dealer at Christmas.

OK, that's not quite how they wrote it, but it is the way it struck me.

They listed a dozen or so professions and answered the question..to tip or not to tip, and by how much. and there at the end of the article right after the handyman....the marijuana delivery person!

The Times (the N.Y. newspaper, and in general) they are a changing.

  • Legal marijuana sales began in Michigan on December 1.
  • Marijuana is legal in 11 states for adults over the age of 21, and legal for medical use in 33 states. )

As for The Times' home state: New York's legislative session ended on June 19. Lawmakers considered, but did not approve marijuana reform.

P.S. the reference in the Times Article: "they offer to smoke me out"---here's the meaning, if you didn't know it already.
