Union Membership Vote Counting Time is Here

Update: The Workers voted to join the Union. 142 - 45,



    The National Labor Relations Board will begin counting ballots from employees at the Montgomery-Headquartered Southern Poverty Law Center today. 
     Some employees of the organization want to be represented by a Union, and the initial reaction from the SPLC was, well...welcoming:

"Unions reflect values that are in our DNA"

But The Center also hired a law firm with experience in preventing unions from forming, so employees may be suspicious.

     

    

There are about 250 employees at the Center. And the official notice of the election from the NLRB says most employees are qualified to vote, to decide whether to be represented by
The Ncws Guild - Communications Workers of America, AFL:CIO, CLC:

"Included: All employees of the Employer, including but not limited to employees in the Administration/Finance, Communications, Creative, CRMC, Development, Digital, Donor Services, Information Technology, Intelligence Project, Legal, Marketing, and Teaching Tolerance Departments.

Excluded: Human Resource department employees, managerial employees, confidential employees, guards and supervisors as defined in the Act."

I don't know this, but I suspect it will not take long to count the ballots. Watch his space.
