Old Radio Days

     WERC radio in Birmingham, probably 1978-1979 or so.

     On the left is Bob Rowe, News Director.      
     He called me one morning in 1976 in New York and asked if I would be interesting in coming to work for him in Birmingham. I virtually had to look at a map. To find Alabama, much less Birmingham.
     I came down for a visit and decided I would spend a few years in the South. Bob left a few years later an I was named News Director.
     Know the difference between a Yankee and a Damned Yankee? The Damned Yankee stays.
     Bob and I remain friends...in fact with few if any exceptions, I am friends will all of the News Directors for whom I have worked.
