Golden Ray Update

Crews are starting day and night operation as they prepare for the slicing up of the scuttled tanker Golden Ray off the coast of Brunswick, Georgia.
They want to complete the removal of the ship by the start of the Atlantic Hurricane season...June 1st. That's less than eight weeks away.
The ship will be sliced into eight pieces. Each piece will loaded into barges to be carried away.

This photo shows one of eight "lifting lugs" that will attached to the ship segments and allow them to lifted onto the barges:

The ship capsized on September 8, 2019 as it started a journey transporting thousands of new vehicles of uncertain manufacture.
Some reports say there were many Hyundai & Kia vehicles onboard, but officials with the Montgomery Hyundai plant say no cars from the plant were on board.
