So far as I know, there is only one remaining "daily" newspaper in Alabama.*
It is certainly the only one published in a "large" city in the state.
It's The Montgomery Advertiser. The other "big city" papers dropped two or three days of publishing several years ago. And frankly, any day now, I expect them to go to five days a week too.
Right now another state is winning the race to the bottom...to become the first state with no newspaper published on Mondays.
A Neimanlab story suggests it ay be the first time that has ever happened in the U.S.
"Maybe there’s some western state that was so sparsely populated at admission that it lacked a daily paper, but I couldn’t find one. I thought perhaps Nevada — which had barely 10,000 residents when it was rush-admitted during the Civil War — might not have had a daily yet back then, but no, it had at least five."
Now they report Wyoming is about to become that state, the one without a daily newspaper.
*This list shows some 38 daily newspapers in Alabama, but it is out of date.
