The Washington Post reports today about a memorial built on the campus of St. Mary's of Maryland to remember the men and women who were owned by the college...in the years 1840 - 1864, when the school was a seminary.

“The history of St. Mary’s College has always been very forward-thinking and relatively progressive and somehow, in my heart of hearts, I had hoped we had no hand in slavery,” (President Tuajuanda C.) Jordan said in an interview Thursday. “When I discovered that, I was sad and depressed.” (Washington Post story)
