New Interstate Would Have a Huge Impact in Alabama

The U.S Senate took a step forward today in the development of a new East-West Interstate Highway that would cut across mid-Alabama from Georgia to Mississippi, connecting 14 military bases across the region, including Maxwell AFB in Montgomery and Fort Rucker in Eastern Alabama.

The Interstate is easily decades away, but would have a major impact on communities across Central Alabama, including Montgomery, Selma and Demopolis.

The U.S. Senate has unanimously approved an amendment to the Biden Infrastructure Package expanding the congressional designation of Interstate 14 on a corridor across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. In Alabama it would generally follow Highway80.
