Had someone ask about the top-of-blog photo showing the stairs. I took it the other day in Mobile in the building that was Admiral Raphael Semmes home. Though it is not restored, I must say I felt a chill walking the same wood floors he did in the 1860's and 70's after the war. This other photo is of a homeless person who was sitting on the building's front stairs. She was reading aloud, to herself, but paused long enough to explain to us that it was the Semmes house, and she was pretty sure Semmes was dead.
