MMMM #25 - NO, and I mean NO parking!
One reason some people hate "The Media" is because of the perceived or actual elitism its members display. Reporters have forever parked their marked news vehicles (especially TV vehicles) anywhere convenient if they are covering a story, as if that somehow gives them permission to break the parking laws that mere mortals must obey. Yes, I've done it, always feeling a bit cheesy. Back in the 70's we actually had a yellow rotating light on top of one car! Why should we be immune from parking regulations just because we carry a camera or notepad? Next time you go past the Statehouse or your own City Hall when there is a high-profile meeting going on, pay attention to the illegally parked news vehicles. More often than not no tickets will be issued because the people holding the meeting want the media attention. Police must be told not to ticket the media, since they seem to be blind to the violations.
