Mauled Mall

     The old Montgomery Mall remains in limbo.

     Coincidentally, I talked with the pastor of the RiversEdge Church  about two weeks ago. He has been negotiating to buy the old Parisian store at one end of the mall (left). He wants to create a church to serve a multi-generational, multi-ethnic community that "has been forgotten". He told me, as he told Tamika, plans are moving forward, but much slower than he would like. When I talked with him half a year ago, he expected to close on the purchase in a matter of weeks.

     The only part of Mayor Todd Strange's plan to be truly moving forward is the taxpayer funded police and fire station at the opposite end of the mall. Perhaps that will propel the other projects to truly move ahead when it is complete. By the way, Mayor Strange will be our guest Tuesday on CBS 8 This Morning in Montgomery.
