The consensus of economists in a Birmingham News story this morning is that the employment rate is not nearly as healthy as painted by Governor Bentley and others. Take Birmingham, for example:
"We are dealing with the biggest and most prosperous metro area in the state," he said. "Yet its county has filed for bankruptcy, its (second) biggest school system has been taken over due to its financial ineptness, its previous mayor is serving time, its pollution doesn't pass EPA standards, its airport is not at par with its population, and its main interstate roads are just being updated when they were due for the last 30 years."AUM's Keivan Deravi
