MMMM #228 -- No Immunity from TGR

The great Recession continues to ravage industries big and small, including all levels of the media.
On Friday, The Tonight Show was hit...20 staffers fired and host Jay Leno agreeing to take a pay cut to prevent even deeper cuts.
    Tough times indeed.

Most of the cuts in the TDAW newspapers in Alabama have already been made, though some folks are still leaving, like Veronica Kennedy at The Birmingham News, who had her last day at work on Friday. And even college papers are feeling the squeeze. As of Sunday early afternoon, I had not yet seen online the weekly Question & Answer column from the managers of the new newspaper company. I'm watching for answers for my questions, including: what is the last day of seven-day-a-week publishing, and what will the cost of a newspaper in a machine be, presuming those are not being phased out too.
The student paper at The University of Georgia reduced is publishing frequency a year ago, and is now is going through an apparently finance-driven upheaval that caused the staff to walk off. It's such a nasty argument that a grammar-challenged memo from a consultant to the paper was flying around the net. The consultant has resigned, and the paper is going back to it's full publishing schedule.
